ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This beautiful and rare LP from Decca (LXT 5545, Swedish pressing, red/silver label – ED1, mono – no stereo edition exists) features the wonderful pianist Inger Wikström in a magical mixed recital, warmly recorded in Stockholm, Sweden, on 22, 23, and 25 May 1959.

The exact contents are as follows:

Carl Nielsen: Suite for Piano Op. 45 “Luciferian”

Claude Debussy: Pour le piano

Frederic Chopin: Andante spianato et grande polonaise brillante in E-flat Major Op. 22

Little remembered today outside her native Sweden, Inger Wikstrom was a remarkable artist, one whose discography is richly deserving of systematic re-issue and renewed appreciation on disc.

There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by O. Hedlund, provided in Swedish only. The lovely photo of Wikstrom and the album design were executed by Bengt Malmqvist and Elvy Bergman.

This album was produced and engineered by Olle Swembel of Europa-Film.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is VERY GOOD. There is corner wear and slight creasing, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners' markings, or other defects and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attracitve – overall, a very good collector's copy.

The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
