Description

 
(Clarence) Williams' Jug Band plays "Mister Will You Serenade?" on

Electric OKeh 41565. This was recorded in NYC on August 7, 1933,

and issued only on this OKeh (mx. 152467-2).


Willie The Lion Smith, Banjo Ikey Robinson, and Clarence Williams on

jug are all sitting in, with Eva Taylor on the vocal refrain.


On the reverse side is another hot gem, this one by Fletcher

Henderson & His Orchestra done in NYC on December 9, 1932. They

play "New King Porter Stomp" a fine Henderson arrangement.
An outstanding trombone solo by J.C. Higginbotham, with Banjo Ikey

and Coleman Hawkins both sitting in. Some great trumpet solos (not

certain who).


The record is in shiny excellent to excellent-plus (E to E+) condition,

and plays as smooth as silk like you would expect from an OKeh

Electric-just great!
