Holy Ghost-LP
HOB/Scepter H260-mono
Original 1967 33 1/3 rpm LP release by Willie Walker and The Waves of Joy. LP was released on the HOB label, which was Scepter Records' Gospel subsidiary. Information is extremely scarce about this group, with virtually nothing from online sources. According to the liner notes, the recordings for this LP were made by Charlotte, NC disc jockey, Willie Walker in 1966. We are not sure if he actually sings on the LP or not. Listed musicians are Nadine Caldwell/pianist, Gerado Stroud/organist, and Billy Cumming/drums. This is reputedly one of the first large choral Gospel LP's to be released. Sound of the LP is rousing old-style Black Gospel with a raw, soulful edge. This very large chorus is fronted by alternating male & female leads. Disc is still factory SEALED in original shrinkwrap with sharp corners. Disc within is, of course, Mint and unplayed. Our research shows that only the title track has ever been reissued on CD.
