Wilson McKinley "Heaven's Gonna Be a Blast!"

One of the rarest (and most desirable) private press Christian rock records. This a 100% original issue, not a counterfeit, bootleg or reissue.

I figure if you're bidding on this, you know something about this one in terms of both musical quality (high) and scarcity (very!), so I won't bore you with a recap.


Condition:

Visually, the record itself looks to be in excellent condition (VG++ or 7.5 on a 1-10 scale). It has some 'spiderweb' stylus marks and in general shows signs of having been played but not abused over the years.

I don't have time to play test most of what I sell, but I figured I had better do it for this one. And I was very impressed. The sound was rich and warm and the performances are sometimes very good, especially on the jammin' "Standing at the Crossroads" & the title track.

Sound quality was also better than I expected. A lot of obscure American rock was of necessity recorded really really fast and, to be frank, can sound like it. But the whoever did the boards for this had great feel snd Wilson-Mckinley delivered some smokin' takes. So much for my 5 cents.

The part I expect to interest you is how well it played: REALLY WELL. No pops, no discernible surface noise during playback of the songs, no ticks, nothing.  Nada. It had the warm sweet sound of a mid-sixties RCA rock record. Really. I was quite astounded, actually.

So I will have to give it the coveted NEAR MINT play grade. Play grading is of course subjective; but then, so is visually grading, and at least this way you have a fellow collector's informed opinion.  (For reference, I use a Technics 1800 MKII tutntable w/ a Pickering XV-15 cart. The amp is a fully restored Sansui AU-9500. Output is through Sansui SP-7500 XP speakers.) 

The cover is not as good as the record. It actually looks pretty clean a first glance, since the color is still sharp and there are no seam splits. Ring wear is minor. The problem is that at some point long ago the back cover got wet and the moisture left ripples in the cardboard. It looks ok (check photo for reference), but it's a demonstrable defect. So, to be safe, I will call the cover VG.
