Hello everyone,
I'm downsizing my collection of some 60 years plus. Over the next few weeks I shall be listing mainly 78rpm records of pre and post war Jazz and Big Band Swing.
Here I have the details of the five records listed below :-
Artie Shaw HMV B 8959 Yesterday / What Is Thing Called Love? Just minor imperfections VG +
Wingie Manone Decca 7366 USA recording Up The Country / Shake That Thing A few very small light scratches and minor imperfections. VG 1937
Wingie Manone HMV B 9376 Royal Garden Blues / Manone Blues Very clean record. only a couple of light scuffs. EXC - 1934
Bob Crosby Decca F 1877 Poor You / The Last Call For Love One very fine light scratch and very minor imperfections. VG ++ Early 40s
Charlie Barnet Brunswick 03601 The Moose / Sky Liner A few very short fine lines and minor very short scratches. VG
Wingy Manone band in 1934 included Artie Shaw, Jelly Roll Morton, Bud Freeman, John Kirby and Dickie Wells. In 1930 he wrote and recorded Tar Paper Stomp which included a riff that later was used by Glenn Miller for his ' In The Mood '.
As with many 78s there can be surface noise. This may be as a result of recording techniques or by having been played on a wind-up gram with a heavy pick-up and steel needles. All these discs have an element of this but perfectly acceptable, since
they were recorded in the mid 30s and early 40s. I prefer to call this nostalgia or atmospheric. Imperfections, lines and scuffs etc are all non-sounding. Sleeves are in a very good condition with one having a touch of fray on the opening edge. The
records are dead flat and all in all a nice little collection. All play true, loud and clear and without distortion. All of the imperfections mentioned are non-sounding. I try very much to describe condition accurately so as not to disappoint a buyer.I do offer
a full return if not satisfied only I'm sure this will not be necessary. The records will be bubble wrapped and dispatched in a purpose made cardboard record mailer. Please feel free to ask questions or request further pictures.
