With The Beatles, BLACK/YELLOW Parlophone 1969 PRESS
With The Beatles.
UK pressed Parlophone Records stereo LP, PCS 3045.1969 third pressing on the black and yellow Parlophone label. No tax imprint to spindle areas, indicating a pressing no earlier than January 1969, and yellow/back label was discontinued in the same year.
Matrices:Side One: YEX 110 2 - Side Two: YEX 111 2.
Mothers:Side One: 2 - Side Two: 2.
Stampers:Side One: MO - Side Two: MD.
Labels have "The Gramophone Company Ltd" upper case perimeter lettering and "Sold in UK" text just below the large yellow Parlophone lettering to top centre. "Sold in UK" text only appears on side two.
Rear of sleeve credits "You Really GOTTA Hold On Me", whilst label credits "You Really GOT A Hold On Me". "Money" has Dominion/Belinda production credits on label.
A very clean and bright issue, and far better preserved than is the norm. Just a very few spider trace marks around centre spindle areas, indicating only a few plays. Vinyl surfaces are bright and glossy, and mostly free of any marks. There are just approx. three extremely light hairline scuffs visible, all of which are superficial. Other than this surfaces are clean and unmarked. Clearly a lightly and carefully played LP. Playback throughout is clean and free of background noise. Hard to even detect anything in the silent bands between tracks. A strong EX in UK grading.
Sleeve is laminated front with matt rear and visible external backflaps, and printed and made by Garrod and Lofthouse. Small stereo logo to top right hand corner of front. On the whole the sleeve has survived in clean, bright and unmarked condition, and does not have that feathery texture that so many well handled Beatles LPs have. There are a few issues however. The sleeve has a slight overall undulation, obviously caused by poor storage at one time or another. The sleeve is now totally dried out, and displays no mould growth. Tips and extremities are mostly very clean and sharp, and without fraying or wear, bar touches of whitening to tips and a few pinch marks to spine area. Entry side is well preserved and not feathered. The front displays the usual half moons and hairline raises in the laminate surface, including some pinch lines near the spine area. This sleeve, with its predominantly black and laminated appearance has always been a nightmare to photograph accurately. Suffice to say that it does look a lot better than photos may indicate.The small imperfections to the laminated front tend to bounce light when being photographed, and always look a lot better "in the flesh". On the whole the front of the LP still looks very clean, and is free of marks, creasing or rubbing. There is a hint of ringwear rubbing, but only to a very minor degree. The far left side has a small white strip which appears to be leeching from another sleeve rather than ripping to the surface. Rear of sleeve is still acceptably bright and clean, with just hints of handling darkening. Light brown tide marks to left and right hand sides. Backflaps are intact and mostly clean and tidy, although some centre edge chipping to right hand backflap. Otherwise in good order and free of stains or inscriptions.
Housed in purple hued EMI advertising inner sleeve, which is in clean condition, and without tears or splits.

A Note On Grading:Note that audio grading is subjective and based on sensitivity of equipment used for playback. In this instance playback has been tested on a vintage Technics Quartz Direct Drive SL1700 MKII turntable with Shure cartridge, Technics SU-C 03 amp and Technics SB-F2 Linear Phase speakers.
Also note that I generally do not clean vinyl unless so noted. Most vinyl will show improved playback quality with your preferred cleaning method, but I leave this to the prospective buyer, as controversy still surrounds the ideal method of cleaning vinyl.
