Description

This 78 album on the Asch Records label apparently dates from circa 1944-45. It contains the following records: Lost John by Sonny Terry (679) b/w Union Burying Ground by Woody Guthrie (Ma77); 1913 Massacre (901) b/w Ludlow Massacre (902) by Woody Guthrie; Pretty Boy Floyd (Ma57) b/w Buffalo Skinners (903) by Woody Guthrie; and--obviously a fill-in for a missing fourth disk--Wasn't That a Time b/w Dig My Grave by the Weavers, on the Charter label (503A/B). I don't have a player capable of 78s, so I can't absolutely vouch for the quality, bu to the eye the records look very good, shiny and unscratched; I'd almost swear they'd barely been played. The album itself, with its dramatic illustration by David Stone Martin, is in rougher shape--as you can see, the spine is mostly missing, and the corners and edges are worn down--but the inner sleeves are in very good shape.  
Note: according to an earlier auction listing by Bauman Rare Books, the album only ever contained three disks (which doesn't explain why there are four sleeves).
