Songs By Woody Guthrie (Asch Records Presents Woody Guthrie Album)- Talking Sailor / Coolee Dam / Ranger's Command / Gypsy Davy / Jesus Christ / New York Town, released by Asch Records (A 347-1/2/3A/B) (Ma 17/20/79/139/135/21) in 1945.
*Here you have an original pressing one of Woody's first releases! This contains six sides culled from Guthrie's expansive Asch Recordings. Some of these are his absolute finest performances, such as the profound "Jesus Christ", "Ranger's Command", "Gypsy Davy", "N.Y. Town", etc. This was released by Moses Asch, well before Asch records became Folkways Records! *

The Records are all properly play-graded in V+ condition. The records play with a very loud up front sound which is great for 78rpm's from 1945. There is some minor audible "hiss" or "surface noise" which is standard for 78 rpm records from this period). Obviously, they do not affect the records' play whatsoever.* The music remains in the extreme foreground of the sound, making this an incredibly enjoyable listen. Visually, the records all show a rich luster and a few, surface marks. this record has been cleaned.
The Album "cover" is graded in VG- condition, only because of the separation on the exterior of the spine. The interior of the spine is NOT split and is in working order. I chose not to try to tape or do anything to the separation as it is obvious that a bookbinder can fix the spine with black acid free cloth. All of the interior (including record pocket holders) in Ex condition. the record plays well and has been checked for any skipping.
