Description
This is a vintage World Program Service electrical transcription disc, likely for radio broadcast. It features two distinct programs. Side A showcases Dorothy Lamour with Dick McIntire and His Harmony Hawaiians, performing classic Hawaiian and vocal numbers like 'Little Brown Gal' and 'The Moon of Manakoora'. Side B features the Two Piano Team of Fray & Braggiotti, presenting selections from George Gershwin's folk opera 'Porgy and Bess', including 'Summertime' and 'It Ain't Necessarily So'. This disc is marked 'Wide Range Transcription' and was processed and manufactured on Western Electric Equipment. It plays at 33 1/3 RPM, vertically cut, and is an oversized 16-inch format, typical of radio transcription discs from the era. A unique piece of broadcasting and music history.
