Writing on the Wall – The Power of the Picts, 1969 LP Middle Earth MDLS 303.

 

PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY BEFORE BIDDING.

This is a decent original example of the LP The Power of The Picts by Writing on the Wall. It was released on the Middle Earth label in 1969 – MDLS 303. The record is mainly in VG+ condition but PLEASE NOTE a couple of faults. There is a scratch on the first track that goes with the grooves and so causes the stylus to skip a single groove on two occasions, a few seconds apart. On the second track it skips one single groove. Also - although it has acquired a very slight ‘storage warp’ over the year and does not sit quite flat on the turntable this DOES NOT AFFECT PLAY AT ALL. It is negligible and I am only mentioning it to show that I have seen it and checked it. And I noticed that it skips a groove – but LUCKILY – it is literally as the first track fades out on the second side and before the second track starts. Despite these faults – that I have checked on two different turntables – I am still inclined to grade it as VG+ as it is still far better than a trashed scratchy / crackly record that has been played to death. But please be aware when bidding that it does have these couple of minor ‘skips’. The non-laminated cover grades as VG+ with some minor rubbing but nothing nasty to mention. (No rips, stickers, writing etc). I have no knowledge at all of this band – but the man I bought the LP from has a vague memory that he saw them play in a High Wycombe pub and that he bought the LP at the gig. If this is total rubbish – please forgive me as I am not trying to make things up – but if it is correct I thought that it was interesting to mention. I listed this LP in the last week of December as an auction - which ended on January 1st.  The winner paid quickly and I posted it to Germany.    When he received it the man opened a return case with the reason / heading "Just didn't like it", and then told me that he wanted to return it becuase there are a couple of skips in the first track.   I pointed out that this was clearly stated in the above description (which I have not changed at all other than the spacing) and he said that he had not actually read that bit.    He appologised for not reading it but still returned it.   I have received it back in exactly the same condition as it was in when it left. (not worse - and obviously not better!)       I did not contact any under-bidders from the first auction.  It will be easier and hopefully fair to everyone to just list it again.   Visit Us     < BackShop Categories

It is impossible to be an expert in all realms of collecting, and I am honestly representing this item to the best of my knowledge and ability. If the item has a fault then I have mentioned it. I ask that you read the description and examine the photos carefully. I also encourage you to ask any questions you may have during the auction to help clarify identification or condition, as I may inadvertently omit information that you as a collector feel is important.     

I never use reproduction company covers - only genuine / vintage ones.  As such - these may not be original to the record and only rarely will they be stunning, as - usually - they are between 40-60 years old.   They may have writing or stickers on them, but will grade at least VG and upwards.    And just occasionally - they are perfect!    If by chance this is important to you - please ask about the specific sleeve pictured.      Where I am not able to provide an original cover I use brand new plain paper covers.     

I am not able to provide scans of paper items and I have no facility to record / copy any records.

TRACKING NUMBER.    If an item sells for more than £40, (or for a package that has a total value of more than £40) it will need to be sent with a Tracking Number - the Royal Mail's International Tracked service.  This costs an additional £5 and that price will be added so that both you - the Buyer - and myself are covered under the buyer protection policy.
