Description
Here is a extremely RARE album from my collection, offered up for sale: Ritchie Valens' self titled 1st album, "Ritchie Valens", released in March of 1959 (one month after his death*) by Del-Fi Records, DFLP 1012 (mono) with "circle" labels, HISTORIC album that was the 1st latin Rock n Roll crossover. This one is a RARE early 1st pressing, has a misprint/Error on the cover "I Got A Gal Named Sue" should be "That's My Little Suzie". Album features hit songs "La Bamba, Donna, Come On Let's Go, We Belong Together, Framed" and more, GREAT listen! This disc has marks but still plays through without skips or jumps, cover has a frame-worthy front portrait!
*Tragic to lose Ritchie so soon! Ritchie was killed in a light plane crash February 3rd with Buddy Holly , the Big Bopper and their young pilot Roger Peterson. The music lives on! Young studio musician Carol Kaye who would later play on hundreds of huge hits by the Beach Boys and many others on bass is featured on this album as a rhythm guitar player.
The record rates VG, is glossy and clean, has numerous light marks and a small heavy feel-able one, has been PLAY TESTED. Plays very good from start to finish, clear sound with light background pops, no skips or jumps!
The cover rates strong VG+, front has great color portrait of Ritchie with no ring wear, edges show minimal handling wear, bottom had small center split neatly re-glued, no tape, text on binder edge is readable, back has light age discoloration at edges, small pen writing in the upper corner, a well cared for cover!
