X-Ray Spex were one of the earliest of punk bands and without doubt, one of the wackiest. After their first single, the out-and-out punk classic, Oh Bondage Up Yours!, in 1977, the band had three Top Thirty singles in a row in 1978. Those were good days.
This is an original, translusent orange vinyl copy the first of those three singles, the band’s second release, The Day The World Turned Day-Glo, which reached number 23 in the charts.
This is a copy of the single that I bought new in 1978. I guess I must have played it a fair few times at the time but I’m confident in saying that it hasn't been on a turntable for almost forty years.
The first 15,000 copies of the record were pressed in this translucent day-glo (of course) orange vinyl. 15,000 sounds a lot but of course, it’s only a fraction of the copies issued and many – probably most - of those original 15,000 will have been lost, thrown away or worn out decades ago.
The record is still in its original – also day-glo – picture sleeve. The card sleeve is intact and clean and I think the earliest black vinyl copies probably also came in this same sleeve design.
Condition is Used. Dispatched with Royal Mail 1st Class.
