XTC Go2 album October 1978 Virgin V2108 Rare pre-release copy (?) VG+/VG
Given to me by a music journalist friend, this album plays very well with no skips or jumps. There is a little surface noise on the run ins and run outs. There are a few light scuffs in places and a very light scratch over tracks 1 and 2 on side 2 but these don’t affect the listening experience.
There are etched matrix numbers V-2108 - A - 1and V 2108 B3 (thus). Also etched onside 1 is “Ian Reid Global Domination Inc!” and on side 2 “tone” or “+one”. I couldn’t find these matrix numbers nor inscriptions on the release pages in Discogs so I suspect this is a pre-release pressing.
The two labels have not been attached to the vinyl. There are three stapled pages of info from Virgin Records Limited including a release date of 06 October 1978.
The black cover has some signs of wear e.g. rub wear on the edges and corners, some ring wear and a little creasing.
There is a gatefold insert. The inside is a colour photograph of XTC with some text on the bottom left hand corner which can be read by holding the insert at an angle against the missing back cover text. The front has photographs and some text whilst the back has a map of Swindon.
I’ll include a new Goldring Exstatic anti-static inner.
I’ll send the album by Royal Mail Standard Second Class in Lil CLP rigid cardboard protective packaging specifically designed for vinyls.
