Description
This is potentially the most exciting find Ive made in a very long time. This single is housed in a handsome picture sleeve showing a very 'Mod' shot of Carnaby St in the 60s. It is a fairly standard shot of Domino & Tremart shops. The only difference can see from the original shot is that the Mini number plate has been replaced with UBM 25. Therein lies the clue. This was issued as per the info on the label, by UBM in Belfast as a promotional device to entice punters to their 25th Anniversary event. I bought this because of its Mod sleeve. I played it after a few weeks expecting to hear a sales pitch. In fact I got two sides of pure punk pop blast, latterly identified as the Xdreamysts fine single on Good Vibrations RIGHT WAY HOME. A rare enough issue in its own right and highly rated.Consulting punk experts in Belfast they were baffled. The run out groove reads GOT 5 A-1 as it should. But this is no shoddy boot. The labels are not overlaid and if anything the packaging exceeds anything Good Vibes put out in terms of presentation! Going by the label, UBM were founded in 1965 so this dates this to 1990. The label is silver grey and across the top is printed in a '60s' style 'Invitation'. The blurb/small type goes on to read UBM have planned 3 days of peace music love and business from 30th Oct - 1st Nov at our pad on 395 Holywood Road'. This was the business address of UBM in Belfast at that time. At the base of the label, underneath the boxed inscription '25 years' it reads 'To enjoy the ambience of a swingin sixties experience just hit that reply paid card and we can turn on, tune in and drop out'. Below this is the UBM logo. Condition wise close to excellent. Plays great. The sleeve is not a cobbled together affair, but professionally printed. I am happy to be educated by the great ebaying public as to the provenance of this item. Any info gratefully received.Auction commencing at a reasonable 20 quid. Postage in the Uk is 2.80 RECORDED.
