Y Trwynau Coch was a Welsh punk / pop-power band from the Swansea Valley . [1] . The band came to prominence in the late 1970s with fast and raw music with an anti-institutional attitude.

The band was formed in 1977 by a group of friends at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera . The band received considerable attention after their song "Girls Under 15" was banned from playing on Swansea Sound. Aled Glynne Davies, a DJ on the station, later said that he banned it in terms of the quality of the music he did, not the content. Nevertheless the ban helped raise the profile of the band and is said to be one of the first Welsh bands to come to the attention of BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel
