Description
This is a fine original pressing copy of a rare private press LP by Chicago group Yama and the Karma Dusters, released in 1971. Led by guitarist/mandolin player/lead singer/chief songwriter Howard Berkman, the group offer a fine brand of West Coast rock with occasional country and folk leanings, and leftist lyrics. This was the group's only release, though Berkman and bassist Neal Pollack had previously been in garage group the Knaves, both sides of whose debut single, "Leave Me Alone/The Girl I Threw Away," have appeared on multiple comps. The record is housed in a thick cardboard jacket covered with textured red paper, on which the front cover art has been silk screened. There is a cover slick pasted on the back cover. The jacket is in fine overall condition. There is some light tearing and wear in the red paper on and around the bottom seam, and a little light ring wear and discoloration elsewhere on the front cover. The seams are intact. The back cover slick has come mostly unglued, and has a few tears and some staining (much of the latter from the glue) -- see photos. Given the overall condition of the jacket, I've graded it EX-. The disc has some light scuffing and staining, and plays with some light surface noise (EX).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
