For auction today: On the Kubernete label from Canberra Australia. Cat # KSD-01. Recorded 1974/75.
I don't know that KSD-02 even exists or what the title is if it does. This is one copy of only 100 ever pressed and it is housed in a most delightful, fragile, textured sleeve. Kubernete seems to be a subsidiary or parent company of Kabali Music (as per print on label).

Three inch split to top seam which you would prob not know was there unless I told you because of the unusual way the sleeve is made. No ringwear (somewhat of a miracle) and only lightest of bends to left side. Disc is superb and cannot be bettered. Near perfect copy.

Graded: covers/discs = EX(+)/M-.

The music seems to form itself
around the story line. Especially
descriptive are Rob Thomsett's
Interpretations of the drought and
killing of the kangaroo, and endless
search of the Mooyi birds for the
great white gum.
Out of the reviewer's old and
worn bag of cliches I suppose I
must attempt to put some labels
on the music, although I'm sure
Rob Thomsett would surely feel as
great a hesitation as I do.
Broadly it would fall into the
category of Avant Garde Jazz. Rob
Thomsett (guitars, flutes, clarinet,
percussions, glockinspeil, auto-harp,
bass and alto sax) plays electric
(Les Paul?) guitar in similar style to
that of McLaughlin in 'Extrapol-
ation', i.e. concisely and well. The
clearly and strongly played flutes
and guitar combine giving greater
depth and melody.
Steven Durie playing Moog
synthesiser, and Jerry Machulla
playing mellotron also help to give
a total individual and different
sound.
The mellotron solo in Warrambool
and the Moog solo in Endless search
are excellent.
Rob Thomsett wrote all com-
positions (except mellotron solo)
and produced the album.
I highly recommend this record
to anyone with imagination. It may
take a few listenings to "get right
into it", but it is wholly worthwhile.
There is only one place where
you can get the album at the
moment and that is at Euphoria
Records (Flinders Gate Arcade).
A thoroughly good album.

This is Canberra’s crowning moment for music in my opinion. If you can imagine David Axelrod without the strings. Heavy dramatic progressive jazz with funk elements and heavy drums. Not an easy record to find....just remember only 100 were pressed and handmade! You won’t find this anywhere else. I promise.

Thoughts/comment regarding Yaraandoo & the RCD books: I have sent/contributed entries to a few of the Hans Pokora Record Collector Dreams in the past (my name "Haron" was credited at the front of the 6001 book) and before the books were released I was in contact with Hans discussing some of the lp's I had lined up for him and had I thought this Rob Thomsett Group lp was musically within the parameters of what he was looking for, I would have surely mentioned it and sent photo of sleeve to him and it would be in one of the six, but I always thought that despite the underground sound and private pressing nature of this lp, I would refrain from doing so and focus on the more obvious rock or folk lp's I had for him. That's why, as far as my copy and influence/knowledge goes, it is not in the books. If it ended up there, I would suggest 4-5 platters rarity.
Having said that, when I see lp's in RCD books from the likes of avant/experimental artists like Colin Offord and Lindsay Blue, I think that really, there shouldn't have been a reason not to mention it.
