Description

ONE of the most influential records of the Be-Bop era, THE CHARLIE PARKER SEPTET version of Bird's original "YARDBIRD SUITE" was covered no less than fifty-two times by other artists in the years that followed!  On this original version, MILES DAVIS (trumpet) and LUCKY THOMPSON (tenor sax) add to the festivities.    


THE TEMPO JAZZMEN, featuring "Gabriel" on trumpet - a contractually pseudonymous DIZZY GILLESPIE - and Charlie Parker - do "ROUND ABOUT MIDNIGHT" on the flip side.  


Dial 1003 appeared in several bewildering variant editions, with alternate takes of both sides issued.  This one has "Yardbird" - mx. 1011-4; "Midnight" - mx. 1005-A (!).  Ross Russell evidently had a problem with consistency! 


This original 1946 Dial 1003 is in fine E- condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care.
