Description

YARDBIRDS - FIVE LIVE

Very nice all round copy with impressive MONO sound quality throughout

Year/Label : 1964 UK COLUMBIA Label number : 33SX 1677 Matrix numbers : XAX 2725 - 1N, XAX 2726 - 1N Stampers :  1 L  / 1 A
Credentials for being a UK very first pressing :
1. The "SX" on each label is preceded by "33". 2. The number "6412" is stated on the reverse side on the bottom flipback. 3. The sleeve is laminated on the front side only. 4. "COLUMBIA" comes before "GRAMOPHONE" on the peripheral label text. 5. For just a few very 1st press copies the word "GRAMOPHONE was misspelt as "GRAPHOPHONE" on the label peripheral text - this is one of those rare copies!
Very good plus (VG+) condition vinyl - completely flat and both sides retain an impressive sheen though there are a number of small scuff marks and wispy hairlines; nothing nasty and mostly only noticeable with close inspection under a bright light, and on side 2 there are 3 very small scratches (see photo) which are just (and only just) feelable, the first scratch of which (middle of track 1, side 2) resulting in a few very low level and non-obvious clicks. All of the other blemishes (each minor) appear to be superficial and do not impinge upon the impressive MONO sound quality. The labels are in excellent (EX) condition with the only blemishes being a a few rogue spindle trails adjacent to the scentre hole on each label.  Again, very good plus (VG+) condition front-side laminated Garrod & Lofthouse flipback outer sleeve with impressively rigid unscuffed edges, near perfectly defined right angled corners with barely any rubbing, and taut opening sides with barely any fraying. The only blemishes are a few 1-2cm light laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the front-side top and bottom edges and spine (with a slightly more obvious 2cm surface crease at each of the top and bottom edges though still minor), and just a few very light handling/storage marks...nothing of real note. Apart from these very minor blemishes the sleeve remains in eminently presentable condition with all colours, text, and art work remaining impressively intact - in fact, hard to believe that this outer sleeve is now 61 years of age!  Very good plus (mostly excellent, actually) MONO sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats or distortion - just the very occasional odd background click and absolutely minimal background crackle, with wonderful tone and clear audio reproduction throughout - every track remains a great listen.  Comes with original poly-lined inner sleeve with no side splits and in overall great condition.  Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.    A very nice copy, with the rarity of being a UK very 1st press and the imporessive MONO sound quality making this a valuable addition to anyserious vinyl collection.
POSTAGE COSTS :

For the UK £3.64 using Royal Mail tracked 48 (ebay "Simple Delivery");

for continental Europe £11 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for,

and for the rest of the world £17 using Royal Mail 1st class tracked and signed for.

I do provide posting and packaging discounts for multiple purchases. I make no profit from postage.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
