LP FOR SALE :
THE YARDBIRDS - Live Yardbirds featuring Jimmy Page 1971(EPIC STEREO E-30615).
The story behind this LP is classic!! The Yardbirds, once a mighty blues based R&B British Invasion powerhouse with potential (and shall we say had Eric Clapton and then Jeff Beck on guitar) was slowly burning their candle out. Paul Samwell-Smith quit, Jimmy Page was hired but soon Jeff Beck was fired. Their records stopped selling ....
So after recording a strong LP "Little Games" that sadly went nowhere EPIC decided that a live LP might show the power of the group. Sadly, the concert was recorded crappy with limited mics and a so-so crowd. So Epic took it upon themselves to make it
more "Live" so they added screams, applause and (worst) clinging wine glasses to make it seem like the mighty Yardbirds were performing in front of a 3000 seat arena, not a small club.
When the Yardbirds heard the results the were horrified. The recording was deemed "unreleaseable" by the group and was supposed to stay on the shelves FOREVER.
Well, one mighty guitar player named Jimmy Page took the ashes of the Yardbirds and started a little group you may have heard of <Led Zeppelin> and instead of signing with EPIC (they did want them), signed with ATLANTIC.
Once Led Zeppelin became a powerhouse and a major money maker, EPIC decided to make some green off their former
signed-employees and release the famed LP "THE YARDBIRDS-Live Featuring Jimmy Page".
Once the big and mighty manager of LED ZEPPELIN, along with Jimmy Page, found out the LP was released they put a stop to it, QUICKLY!!!. The LP was instantly pulled off the shelves. I have been told between 2 days to a week.
How many did these sell? Not many.
EPIC even tried to slip the LP through one more time, trying to release under COLUMBIA'S cheaper, economical off-shoot "COLUMBIA SPECIAL PRODUCTS" label. Zeppelin put a stop to that one, as well.
So what do we have here? Well, the music is amazing!! Jimmy Page was absolutely on. Plus you get the here the first version of Dazed and Confused, titled "I'm Confused", recently stolen from Jake Holmes.
Truly amazing, not the best recording (it won;t win awards) but RAW. The 12 minute version of "I'm A Man" with violin-bowed guitar and free-form lyrics puts the LITTER'S version in their face.

CONSERVATIVE GRADE:
COVER: 7 (VG++) Mild seam wear. Very small sticker tear (repaired). Mild bent corner upper left. BEAUTIFUL!!
RECORD: 7/8 (VG++/EX+) Ultra Glossy Vinyl with extremely faint paper scuffs!!!

MY GRADING SYSTEM IS :
I work on the 10 point grading system (see below).
There will be a blue number representing shape besides the listing/Year in blue. (Ex: 1967 7/8)
All gradings are visual and I only play records in special situations ......
10 : MINT (still sealed (LP's only) or unplayed (shown by zero spindle wear). PERFECT CONDITION!!!)
9 : NEAR MINT/M- (opened LP or slight handling wear. ALMOST PERFECT BUT NOT...)
8 : EX++ (Slight wear(ring/seam), slight paper scuffs that do not effect play and little to no spindle wear)
7 : VG++ (slight needle wear/slight scuffs/slight scratches/slight cover discoloration and or seam wear). Small seam splits starting. Some slight ticks that don't take away from the listening experience.
6 : VG+ (slight needle wear/mild scuffs/ mild scratches/ mild cover discoloration and or seam wear).
Plays with slightly noticeable ticks but still enjoyable!!)
5 : VG (Needle wear/scuffs/scratches/cover discoloration and or seam wear).
Plays with noticeable ticks but OK!!)
4 : G (OK LP. Listed as a play copy until a clean one comes)
3 : FAIR (Seam splits/heavy writing on cover/scratched and scuffed ... BUT STILL PLAYS but sound like bacon sizzling)
2 : POOR -> Really trashed (Only listed if it is super super rare and can fill a void. $500 record or more. Could be cracked but plays.)
1 : Hurts to look at (Should be thrown away or given to Goodwill. "Used for target practice"/Original owner should be ashamed!!).
These records will not be sold. They will be used for landfill.
