Description

EWING NUNN LP:
Don Ewell -
YELLOW DOG BLUES –
Original Audiophile AP-66 Red Vinyl Saukville –
RARE!

A very fine and rare prize, recorded by Ewing Nunn, one of the finest recordists of this day or any.

It features the Don Ewell Quartet playing YELLOW DOG BLUES, GEORGIA BO BO, OLE MISS, BLUES MY NAUGHTY SWEETY GIVES TO ME, and ATLANTA BLUES, among others.

For those unfamiliar, Ewell is one of the very best pianists in the stride tradition, who always loved playing a Bosendorfer piano for its added bottom range.

For those also unfamiliar with the fine recordings of Mr. Ewing Nunn, please expect, even in mono, only the finest capturing of tonalities here.  Ewing Nunn was not only among the first recordists ever to use a very small diaphragm microphone (one capable of capturing sound much as your ears perceive it), he also formulated his own vinyl compounds, his original releases, as this one is, made of red vinyl he concocted.

The man hardly missed a beat and this record will show you that.  Utterly captivating, a marvel really in the playing, and getting awfully hard to come by: Jacket is without fault, very crisp; original Saukville red-vinyl platter is in near-mint playing condition.

To be cherished, a vinyl treasure.

For other fine records, TAS picks and hard-to-finds, please see my complete list of offerings here on eBay.

Shipping and handling is $5 for up to 5 LPs shipped within the States. Internationally, $16 via airmail for the first LP, $4 each thereafter. (Canada is half that.) Boxes over 4 lbs., add another $6, because First Class is no longer available at that weight, just Priority Mail. Note, too, boxed sets of LPs require more postage.
