YES

 'CLOSE TO THE EDGE' LP

MEGA RARE

1972 UK PRESSING

A1/B1 MATRIX NUMBERS

(this is the one that all YES fans want for their collection)

1st PRESSING FULLY TEXTURED COVER

1ST PRESSING GREEN INNER LYRIC SLEEVE

How can you tell this is a genuine 1st UK Pressing?

1. The matrix numbers are A1/B1. This was only available for a short period - soon changed to A1/B2.

2. The green inner sleeve has double flip backs on one side - later pressings simply had seams on both sides.

3. The green inner sleeve is slightly lighter than 2nd pressings but darker than 3rd and subsequent pressings. Re-issues have white inner sleeves.

4. The gatefold cover is textured inside and out. 2nd pressings were textured on the outside only. 3rd and subsequent pressings were matt - untextured. Re-issues were glossy.

5. The textured cover is darker than for later pressings.

6. The spine is narrow - later pressings had wider spines.

7. The labels are significantly darker than later pressings.

8. The labels have an indent approximately half way inside the label.

9. There is no mention of Warner Brothers on the labels.

10. The vinyl is much thicker than that used for later pressings.

In order for this LP to be a genuine 1st UK pressing, it needs to have all of the above characteristics - which this one has.

Vinyl: A lovely sheen to the vinyl. Side 1 = Very Good+. Some feathering and light (non-feelable) scratches only. Side 2 = Very Good(-) with 3 or 4 more significant scratches.

Cover: Fully textured (inside and outside) gatefold cover designed by Roger Dean. In near excellent (not mint) condition. No writings/doodles or seam splits. Some light ringwear and some light outer cover/spine wear here and there.  Inside is excellent++.

Labels: Excellent. A1 & B1 matrix numbers.

Inner lyric sleeve: Original green lyric inner sleeve with the double flip-backs is excellent - small tape to the third (non-flip back) seam.

Postage £5 (UK) £8 (EUROPE) & £10 (REST OF THE WORLD) + includes compulsory insurance.

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
