Yes ~ Close To The Edge UK LP Atlantic K50012. Released 1972
Lovely original UK 1st Pressing with the hard to find textured sleeve, which on this copy is in really great condition. Comes complete with its original green lyric inner sleeve.
Detailed Gradings: -
Outer Sleeve: EX
The textured outer gatefold sleeve is in EX condition. This particular sleeve is prone to rubbing and discoluration, but there is no deterioration in the quality of the surface on this copy whatsoever. There are just a few very tiny points of wear on the corners and edges, none of which are really significant. This is close to receiving an EX+ grade. I have kept with an EX grade purely because the front and rear edges of the opening at the gatefold do not align on this copy which I think would have happened at manufacture, as although the spine doesn’t sit square there is a 5mm overlap between the rear and front cover. This isn’t a big problem but those seeking a perfectly aligned edge should be aware. Top condition sleeve, one of the very best I’ve seen in recent years.
Vinyl: VG+ (visually – but see playback note below)
The vinyl retains its full deep gloss shine throughout. There are moderate to numerous hairline marks visible, but the vast majority are light and only visible under strong light. Overall this is respectable copy and whilst not mint, its still a decent copy in above average condition.
Playback : I played this LP all the way through and it is astonishing!! Plays slightly better than the visual grading. There are 5-6 clicks audible about 1min into Close To The Edge, but other than this it plays really well, audio graded at EX-

Side B : K00012 B2 ? – Last digit is hard to make out?
Labels: EX+ ~ Clean, and with no significant marks. Under a bright light a few light spindle lines can be seen.
Inner Sleeve: EX- Importantly, the custom inner sleeve remains unsplit. It is generally very clean with only minimal creasing with some visible wear to one side of the front and rear.
Overall a very nice copy of this iconic Yes LP.
Postage and Packing:
All records are been placed in a separate poly lined inner and stored flat outside the sleeve and then placed sealed in a re-sealable polythene outer prior to shipping. Records are then placed between square cardboard sheets before packaging into cruciform mailers especially designed for LP’s. These mailers are a high grade type which reinforce the edges around the LP and as such they are larger and weigh more than standard mailers. My postage costs reflect the additional size and weight of the packaging that I use. Despite using high quality packing materials, I only charge the actual costs of postage.
