YES ''FRAGILE'' 1ST UK PRESSING CAT NO.2401019 ORIGINAL 1ST PLUM\RED ATLANTIC LABELS!!A#1 B#1 EARLIEST MATRIX!!! ABSOLUTELY AWESOME ORIGINAL 1ST MACNEILL PRESS GATEFOLD!! COMPLETE WITH BOOKLET!! STUNNING!! NEAR MINT AUDIO ON MY SYSTEMS LOOKS AND SOUNDS BARELY EVER PLAYED UNBELEIVABLY RARE 37 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!!
Here is another from my personal collection! Rarely seen this earliest pressing in this awesome top condition! This has been stored in a case for at least 25 years,, with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!!!
Fragile is the fourth album by the British progressive rock band Yes, released on Atlantic Records, catalogue 7211. It was the band's first album with keyboardist Rick Wakeman after the departure of Tony Kaye, and the first to feature cover art by Roger Dean, his work emblematic of both the band and progressive rock as a whole. Fragile was issued in the UK in November 1971, but was held back in North America for two months because of the chart momentum of The Yes Album. It peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200 during a stay of 46 weeks, and as Atlantic 2401 019 reached #7 in the UK album chart!!
Work on the material began while Kaye was still in the band.
Four of the nine tracks feature full performances by the new line-up with Wakeman, three of which were of eight minutes length or longer. Its best known track, "Roundabout," was released in the United States in an edited version as a single!!.
The remaining five tracks showcase the band members' individual talents. "Cans and Brahms" is an arrangement by Wakeman of the third movement from the Fourth Symphony in E minor by Johannes Brahms, his utilization of synthesizers adapted to classical works in vogue at the time, evidenced in efforts by Wendy Carlos and Isao Tomita. "We Have Heaven" is by Jon Anderson in which he sings all the vocal parts, a technique later used on his solo album Olias of Sunhillow. "Five Per Cent For Nothing", "The Fish" and "Mood For A Day" are solo pieces respectively by Bill Bruford, Chris Squire and Steve Howe!!!.
Recording technology and production methods!
Recorded in September 1971 at Advision Studios in London, the album is an analog multi-track production. Standard multi-track methods were employed, such as overdubbing, including a flipping of the master tape to record the backwards piano, cued by Howe's guitar, for the beginning of "Roundabout."!1
The Cover
The cover design by Roger Dean depicts a tiny planet on the front. On the back, the planet has begun to break up and the population is escaping in a wooden space glider - a concept that was to inspire Anderson's Olias of Sunhillow, as well as the film Floating Islands. The artwork of Yessongs is believed to continue the narrative!!This is the original 1st issue! Unlaminated and printed by Macneill Press.London England! This original is made of thick card type and is prone to rubbing and ringware, amaizingly there is only a hint of any rubbing and any you would have to look for to notice! All corners are straight as is the spine and all of the writing on the spine is fully legible!! Just bare minimal marks\rubbing again barely noticable unless looked for! There are (no) splits or tares and is well above the average in condition for a 37 year old 1st press cover!! Must be at least excellent to excellent plus!!
The Booklet
The LP's accompanying promotional booklet contains two additional Dean paintings!!; the front cover depicts five different creatures huddled under a root system; the back cover depicts a person climbing up a rock formation. The inside of the promotional booklet consists of several different photographs of the band members interspersed with smaller Dean illustrations and photographs of their wives, including Jenny Anderson and Nikki Squire, and children!!. The booklet is fully attached and is in as new condition as near perfect as you would ever find!!!!

The Vinyl
This lays perfetly flat on the turntable and still gleems retaining its original sheen from new! It is obvious to me that this vinyl has had very minimal play indeed!!
On initial inspection I can barely see a blemish at all!! Only in strong light could possibly any light whyspy sleeve removal marks be seen and possibly the odd very light surface scuff. (non audio sounding)
The Audio quality.
I have played this vinyl at very loud volume on a top system two times prior to listing! The audio is truly awesome throughout!,, with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever! This is cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through there are (no) loud clicks or pops and even during quiet places is generally lovely and quiet! This audio was very near perfect on my systems! The awesome audio seperation that I heard can only be acheived from the earliest pressings and this will be very hard to surpass for a 37 year old vinyl!! Top! Top! audio on all frequencies!!!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd very light static crackle\ticks (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that thisw is a genuine 37 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 37 year old system!
This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dust and dirt in the grooves over the years causes static crackle\ticks! ,,, A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any interfearane and will enhance the audio quality!
The Labels
Feature the plum\red Atlantic labels (only earliest press) Please note! earliest press features ''Under Licence.....'' above the white band! These labels are very clean and just very bare minimal spidering can be seen only angled to the light! There is no spindleware the hole is perfectly round!
A STUNNING TOP COPY 1ST PRESS RARELY SEEN IN THIS TOP CONDITION HIGHLY COLLECTABLE AND SOUGHT AFTER LIKE THIS!!!
