YES - TIME AND A WORD

A beautiful copy of this increasingly rare (especially in condition as impressive as this) and highly sought after prog rock UK 1st pressing, on the coveted Atlantic red and plum label, STEREO 2400008

The dead wax matrix numbers are :

Side 1  2400006 A/1 with stampers "1 1" and "10" at 12.30 o'clock and 1 o'clock respectively

Side 2  2400006 B/2 with stampers "1 1" and "9" at 9.30 o'clock and 10.30 o'clock respectively

The appearance of the flat, thick vinyl is excellent+. Both sides of the vinyl (nicely solid and completely flat, by the way) have retained their original jet black lacquered sheen and impressive luster. In normal daylight each side appears as near perfect and it's only upon close scrutiny and under a bright light that just a few very, very wispy and small hairlines come into view. All strictly surface only and superficial - clearly this is a record that has been played sparingly and the truly excellent+ condition of this record fully supports that hypothesis. Note that the "A/1", "B/2" stampers are the earliest stampers, indicating a true UK first pressing.

The labels are excellent plus (EX+). Beautiful labels with the coveted red and plum matt textured background in perfect condition along with the black text and iconic Atlantic logo. Under a bright light I can just make out a few very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, but apart from that, perfect! 

The MacNEILL PRESS non-laminated outer sleeve is excellent. Such an iconic sleeve, with each edge rigid and the only scuffing being 8mm of rubbing on the bottom edge adjacent to the right corner and some minor, sporadic light scuffing on that same edge but towards the bottom left corner. The spine is near perfect being devoid of any scuffing with all spine text in top notch condition and the only blemish being a couple of very light (and small) ageing spots towards the bottom of the spine. The opening edges each also remain firm with no fraying whatsoever. On the reverse side there is some slight superficial abrasion towards the bottom edge and the merest hint of some age discolouration towards the top left (and again towards the top left on the front side also). These are all superficial blemishes, very minor indeed. The art work on the front side and photography on the reverse side remain rich and vibrant along with great clarity. Remarkably impressive condition, especially for a 49 year old classic record cover such as this.

Finally, the quality of the audio is simply terrific. No pops, no skips, no clicks, and none of that annoying background interference/crackle. Just great tone and clarity throughout, even on the higher frequencies and at higher volume. Every track on this great album makes for a great listen!

Comes with original poly lined "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" inner sleeve with "British Patent" and "MADE IN ENGLAND" horizontal blue text, with no splits or tears and remaining in excellent condition and fully functional. Note that I always post the record in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly impressive copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1970 UK very 1st pressing prog rock classic on the coveted UK Atlantic "red and plum" label - a worthy addition to any serious prog/psych vinyl collection, and only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
