Another from my personal collection! This album was purchased from new in 1970 and initially only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl seperated from the sleeve and cover for protection. This is how I have always stored my records! Here on he second album released by 'Yes' in 1970 An original 1st UK pressing featureing the original plum/red Atlantic labels! The audio is awesome throughout, this looks and plays like a new vinyl! Unbeleivable for 41 years old like this! The cover ,record sleeve and lyric inner are also in top condition rarely ever seen like this! Very collectable and sought after indeed!

Time and a Word is the second album by progressive rock band Yes, released in mid-1970 in the UK and November 1970 in the US. This was the last Yes album to feature the group's original line-up, as Peter Banks was fired before the album's release. Time and a Word (Atlantic 2400 006) reached #45 in the UK. The North American release of the album (Atlantic SD 8273) did not chart.

With the decision to use string arrangements on most of the album's songs, Peter's role as a guitarist was diminished. Tensions within the band increased, and just after the album's recording was completed in early 1970, Peter was asked to leave!

Steve Howe would join the line-up that March, replacing Banks!.

The album also includes two songs Jon Anderson wrote with David Foster, a former band mate in The Warriors. Time and a Word's use of heavy strings seemed intrusive to some critics, and the album was received in a lukewarm fashion upon its release (UK #45, Yes' first chart entry at home).

With the addition of Steve Howe, the band would start to compose, rehearse, and record the music for The Yes Album over the summer and autumn of 1970. The album, released the following spring, would finally earn the band their success.

The US and UK releases had different album artwork; the UK version had black-and-white drawing of a nude woman, but this was deemed inappropriate in the US, so the cover there showed a picture of the band!

Despite appearing on the US cover, Steve Howe does not play on the album. The back cover of both versions features photographs of the band members.

The Vinyl

This lays perfetly flat on the turntable and still gleems retaining its original sheen from new! It is obvious to me that this vinyl has had very minimal play indeed!!

On initial inspection I can barely see a blemish at all!! Only in strong light could possibly any light whyspy sleeve removal marks be seen  To be honest I can't see any marks at all!. (non audio sounding, certainly no marks that would cause any clicks or pops)

The Audio quality.

I have played this vinyl at very loud volume on a top system two times prior to listing at loud volume on a top system! The audio is truly awesome  throughout!,, with (no) signs of any distortion or that this has been overplayed what so ever! This is cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through there are (no) loud clicks or pops and even during quiet places is  lovely and quiet! This audio was very near perfect on my systems and certainly one of the best that I have heard, near cd quality in places in my opinion! The awesome audio seperation that I heard can only be acheived from the earliest pressings and this will be very hard to surpass for a 40 year old vinyl like this!!! Top! Top! audio on all frequencies!!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd isolated very light static  (not) consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that thisw is a genuine 40 year old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system!

This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 35 years! A build up of dust and dirt in the grooves over the years causes static crackle\ticks! ,,, A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce any interferance and will enhance the audio quality!

The Labels

Feature the plum\red Atlantic labels (only earliest press) Please note! earliest press features ''Under Licence.....'' above the white band! These labels are very clean and just very barely a feint trace of a couple of spider marks can be seen only angled to the light! There is no spindleware the hole is perfectly round and tight on the spindle, you can still even see the plastic in the spidle hole! It is quite obvious that this vinyl has had no more than a handful of plays only!

The Records sleeve.

This is the original Atlantic ''Head Hunters Sleeve' Correct for this issue. Please note , only issues that were released at the time that Kinney Press took over the Atlantic records labels were issued with these! There are no splits or tares just minor storageware at the opening edge!

The lyric inner.

This is totaly original almost as new! Please note, only originals carry the correct catalogue number ''2400 0066''

The cover!

This is the original 1st issue unlaminated cover (sligtly textured) There is a ''Kinney' sticker at the rear making this authentic at the time that Kinney press took over the Atlantic labels. At 1st glance this cover looks as new, super straight without the usual storageware normally seen on these 40 year old covers, no splits or tares absolutely tip top condition, any storageware with age you would have to scrutinise to notice any.! This must grade at least excellent plus to very near mint!
