YES 'YESSONGS' 1st UK PRESSING 1973 CAT No K 60045 THREE LP SET! NEAR ARCHIVE COPY! UNBELEIVABLE CONDITION FOR 38 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!  ONLY PLAYED TWO OR THREE TIMES EVER! NEAR MINT VINYL! NEAR MINT AUDIO! COMPLETE WITH ORIGINAL SUPER WIDE SPINED, THREE CARD INSERT GATEFOLD, ORIGINAL RECORD SLEEVES AND PICTURE BOOKLET INNER!! EARLIEST PRESSING WITH -1-1-1-1-1-1 MATRIX ENDINGS!!

Another from my personal collection. Purchased from new over 38 years ago and initially only ever played this to record to tape! The vinyls were always stored seperated from the cover and sleeves for protection, which is why this has obviously preserved this album in this absolutely awesome top condition!! This is how I have always stored my records!! The recording production on this particular album is absolutely astounding. For the most part of this album during the audio, the quality is unbeleivable throughout ,so much so it is almost like a studio album for the most part in my opinion! What makes this so collectable to any avid record or 'Yes' collectors is not only the awesome condition but that this is one of the earliest pressings,, featureing -1 matrix endings on all six sides! Also features the earliest mothers with the 'A' prefix at 9 ocklock to the matrix also on all six sides, which means that these vinyls were pressed from the earliest master and the earliest mothers!! Unbeleivably rare and scarce to ever find like this! Also totaly complete with the original record sleeves and the picture booklet!!

Yessongs is the first live album by the British progressive rock group Yes and was released in 1973. It mostly documents the tour for the album Close to the Edge but also features two tracks ("Perpetual Change" and "Long Distance Runaround/The Fish") recorded during the previous Fragile tour!!.

The Fragile tour track "Long Distance Runaround/The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)," and the song "Perpetual Change" from The Yes Album are the only tracks on the album to feature Yes's original drummer, Bill Bruford, who left the group after recording Close to the Edge!!.

 For that album's tour, Yes were joined by drummer Alan White, who had only mere days to learn the material and remains with the band to this day. White was only three years into his career as a session drummer, but had already worked with such notable acts as The Plastic Ono Band and Joe Cocker!!.

The album opens with an excerpt from Igor Stravinsky's Firebird Suite, which has been a standard opening Yes concerts ever since!. Later in the album, vocalist Jon Anderson briefly sings a passage from Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring!.

 All band members except Anderson and White are given extended solo space!

 The track "Mood for a Day" is an unaccompanied guitar performance by Steve Howe, who also takes extended solos during "Yours Is No Disgrace" and at the end of the "Würm" section of "Starship Trooper", which might be considered his best electric guitar showcase on the album!. The Yessongs version of "The Fish (Schindleria Praematurus)" is considerably longer than the studio version on Fragile, with bassist Chris Squire taking an extended solo (and jamming with Bruford) in mid-song. Bill Bruford performs a drum solo on "Perpetual Change," which is preceded by an extended guitar performance by Howe accompanied by Bruford and Squire!

 The album also contains a medley of excerpts from Rick Wakeman's debut solo album The Six Wives of Henry VIII. Some songs are extended to almost double the length of their studio counterparts as well as given a more high-octane performance!

 Guitarist Steve Howe offers an extended improvised guitar solo on "Yours Is No Disgrace," a last-minute decision!.

This is the original 1st issue/ 1st UK pressing, the  album was initially released on three discs in a fold-out package featuring artwork by Roger Dean!. Inside are four individual panels by Dean which continue a theme that began with Fragile in 1971!!

 On the back cover of Fragile is an image of a small planet breaking apart into several large pieces with a giant sailing spacecraft nearby. The first panel in Yessongs, titled "Escape", shows the craft apparently leading the planetary fragment through space!

 The second panel ("Arrival") depicts these fragments landing in the waters of a new world. In the third image ("Awakening") this new landscape becomes the habitat for various plant and animal species!

 The final image ("Pathways") depicts the emergence of civilization (Dean's cat walked across this piece whilst still wet and can be clearly seen). This theme is also the basis of the film Floating Islands. The sailing craft was used as a small logo on many of the band's subsequent albums, and the image sequence inspired Yes vocalist Jon Anderson's first solo album Olias of Sunhillow in 1976, although Roger Dean was not involved with that album's artwork!!.

The Vinyls

These vinyls are the original thicker and heavier type of vinyls only found like this on the earliest pressings , later press are much flimsier and less robust.All Three vinyls look as new on initial inspection. Any marks that could possibly be see in strong light would be sleeve removal only! To be honest I can't see anything, certainly and most importantly no scratches or audio sounding marks at all! Obviously this has only ever been played three times by me personaly, ever!

The Audio

Again all three sides not only look like new vinyls but play as good as it gets in my opinion! Absolutely awesome top, top quality audio on all frequencies! Any static is barely noticable on my systems! Never need to upgrade! I would grade the audio on all six sides as near mint! As good as it gets in my opinion!

Please look at my other completed listings sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!

please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have played these vinyls through track for track at very loud volume on a top system and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Although I never heard any problems myself and I would class myself as highly critical, Please allow for the odd isolated static/crackle/tick (not) consistant through out the audio! This is an original vinyl pressing not a reissue that is genuinely 38 years old would have been played on a system that is 38 years old! Please look at my completed listings of albums that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

 The Record Sleeves

hese are the original 1st issue white custom sleeves with the 'Yessongs' logo! There are no splits or tares minor creasings only. Please note there are small white marks in the corners where a library numbered sticker was on two of the sleeves and one has a library number sticker.
• The Cover

This is the original ist issue three card inserted unlaminated gatefold cover, featureing the super wide 13 mm spine! There are no splits or tares at all! I would say that this is still very near/almost as good as the day that it was pressed! Any storageware or bumping is extreemely minimal indeed! (see photos) Barely any creases worth to mention any minor small creases you would have to scruninise this cover to notice! This cover has not suffered from the usual ringware due to the fact that I have always stored this with the vinyls seperated! Amaizingly the spine is nice and square (usually seen crushed or flattened) All of the three card inserts are perfect there are no nasty names or stickers! Stunning 1st issue 38 years old like this, try to find better!!

 I would grade this cover at least excellent plus in my opinion! 

The Insert Booklet

This is the original insert glossy picture booklet. Almost as good as the day that it was pressed in my opinion! (see photos)
