The above info confirms the earliest press of this monumental classic.

This particular record on Atlantic Plum is mega rare and it is certain that there are only a small fraction of these labels compared to the re-pressed orange and green versions. These plum Atlantic copies including the Led Zeppelin vinyls are in the same category as this one. Fragile by Yes is probably the hardest one to find . Any Plum record from 1971 , the year of the Kinney changeover are really scarce and the later that year they were issued, the rarer they are! This record was recorded in Sept 1971 and must be one of the very last records (if not THE FINAL ONE) to be pressed on the Plum label!

Sleeve

Opening gatefold sleeve with coloured booklet firmly attached.The best I have yet seen. Only the first issue sleeves have the attached booklet .In beautiful condition. Many of the booklets were either torn, ripped or dislodged from the album cover. This stapled booklet is strongly attached to the sleeve and  is very near MINT. NO tarnishing or rusting of the staples .Later copies/reissues had these booklets added as an insert.

The sleeve is made from a soft card with a matt finish, notorious for wear and damage .This one is in fantastic condition and have not seen better . Spine is square and solid, clearly showing title and has NO spinal wear at all, please see pics. Edges are fantastic with hardly any edge wear visible .Excellent++ outer faces with no ring wear visible on front /reverse covers. No sticker marks and number printed on spine with title of record, showing a genuine first issue. Colours are unfaded and remain vibrant and strong. Hardly any thickening/feathering to opening edge . Textured inner faces are virtually perfect.Only feature that stops me from grading near mint is the slightest corner curling/scuffing which is faintly visible .

In remarkable condition and far better than most . One of the best I have had the pleasure to view.

Labels

Atlantic Plum/reds in near perfect format. Appear freshly pressed and virtually factory NEW save for an extremely light spindle trace when angled under a bright light. Labels show no mottling/no peeling/no damage of any kind. Appear sensational against the jet black of the vinyl. They must be the most remarkable plum/reds that I have had the pleasure to view. Delicate flash residue still intact around the most perfect central hole on one side . Absolutely stunning and excellent/near mint - !!

Audio

Quite honestly a very near perfect aural delivery . Certainly a strong excellent . Slight static on opening grooves but little else to fault .These grooves have hardly been disturbed over the years and operate clearly with hardly any surface disturbance .Warm tones are conveyed with a razor sharp edge.  Audio graded with a sensitive needle and was quite breathtaking to say the least. The main feature to this audio is the exceptional warmth of the punch it exudes and must be one of the very best examples of this historic release. No audible scratches or blemishes to report . Professional clean recommended .

Vinyl

Extremely rare to locate in this excellent condition .  Thick cut , quality pressing and under ordinary light, just some extremely light hairlines/surface if angled but make no mistake, a classy piece of vinyl . An excellent visual with glass like surfaces . Well cared for and looked after .

Summary

Probably the rarest red/plum copy that you are ever likely to have a chance of owning! And looking at this vinyl, probably THE best example that you are ever likely to come across!

A remarkable album in every respect. An excellent album sleeve with a near mint booklet, highly polished  playing surfaces displaying a sheen very similar to mint vinyl, very rare plum red labels , possibly being the final ones ever made and a breathtaking audio, which puts the icing on an already ,very rich cake.

A sensational example of this monumental rock classic. True investment quality . Will find impossible to match . Don’t let this one pass you by. Will never find better and becoming increasingly difficult to locate in this unbelievable condition.
