I was fortunate enough to get this forgotten gem in a lot of common 78 records, and now it can be preserved by going to a collector. 

The basics:
SIDE ONE: "Lechayim", Music: Joseph Schrogin, Lyrics: Sam Liptzin, Vocals: Bernice Ashdown.
SIDE TWO: "Mein Nit", Same credits as side one.
Both songs are completely original and sung in Yiddish. Although the label says Quality Records, it does not appear to be the Quality Records label that comes up from internet searching. It would appear that Schrogin self-published this record much the same way that one would self-publish a book today.

What my internet sleuthing has discovered about this record:
Joseph Schrogin was a Lithuanian Jewish immigrant who moved to the United States in 1921 and settled in Los Angeles. He was an amateur music composer his entire life. As a day job, he painted houses. He was self-taught and had no formal training. Two years before his death in 1974, he published a book of his music called "Gezangen". There are a few of these books available on Amazon, and a free pdf version online from archive.org, digitized by the Steven Spielberg Yiddish Digital Library. It includes the sheet music for the songs on this record! The book is incredibly rare, but completely forgotten, which is why there are two or three available! Ever rarer, is any RECORDING of this traditional folk music. From my research, there appear to be two other known copies of this record in the world and they are in academic collections, one in Harvard, and one in the Jewish National Library of Israel! It appears that some of Schrogin's descendants ended up in Boca Raton, and in 2004, they donated a collection of his written music to Florida Atlantic University Library, who created the Joseph Schrogin Music Collection. This is music written from between 1954 and 1961, and it does not appear to contain any recordings, just written manuscripts. For your listening pleasure, I've included two 30 second sample clips below (this is the one time I've played this record) so that you can hear the soul and quality of these recordings. I'm not a 78 expert, but this record plays perfectly and is in good condition, no cracks or chips. The labels have a little wear.

The subject matter of Mein Nit is a love song about unrequited love (?). Lechayim is sort of a traditional dance song, based on a toast you would say at a bar mitzfah or bat mitzfah, L'chaim, "To life".
