Absolutely beautiful copy of the original 1950 release of the classic Yma Sumac debut album, Voice of the Xtabay, on Capitol 4-78rpm album set CD-244. Later issued on a 10” LP and then a 12” LP, this 78 version is the most amazing way to hear this music. Unbelievable sound. If you are used to the LP or, worse, the awful CD sound, this copy will blow your mind. It’s like hearing this record for the first time. Absolutely incredible on glorious 78. And this copy really brings it out, as it is nearly mint. All four discs appear barely played and are nearly pristine, with only tiny signs of gentle use. They play flawlessly and just beautifully. The cover is likewise unusually clean, with some of the usual edge and corner wear but not much at all. The spine is perfectly intact and untorn and the binding strong. PLUS it comes with a very rare 1955 concert playbill from the Shrine Auditorium in LA. Listed are all the music and dancing in what must have been an incredible program produced and directed by Moises Vivanco, who also composed the music on this album. This playbill is very rare and a wonderful collector’s piece for the Yma Sumac fan. I’m sorry to let it go…
