Yo La Tengo are one of those outfits that are genuinely enigmatic. Formed after New York rock 'n' roll writer Ira Kaplin met Georgia Hubley and the pair decided to start making songs, over the course of their time together this has been a duo, a three piece and a quartet, and they have released everything from ten-minute guitar meltdowns to Pete Seeger covers.

Fakebook is another example of why these are far from your average players. Released in 1990, and reissued here, the title will clearly resonate with anyone who, today, has grown weary and worn by the relentless nightmare that is Facebook - despite this release predating the social network by some 15 years or so. That point aside, let's just say this is indie folk Americana stuff that we will all still be listening to long after finally cancelling that profile and account.
