Description
Here is some typical 1930 hot-fox-trot-type fare from the highly esteemed GOLDEN GATE ORCHESTRA: "YOU WILL COME BACK TO ME" and "(You Can't Stop Me From) FALLING IN LOVE WITH YOU."
The most intriguing fact about this disc is that it was recorded in the first week of March, 1930, by the then-ancient acoustic method; where the sound waves were captured by a big recording horn and cut directly onto a wax master. This harks back to the earliest type of recording, starting with Thomas A. Edison and his tinfoil cylinder phonograph, in August of 1877! The acoustic method was the basis for a gigantic record industry, and it lasted for over a half-century. Starting in 1923, electronic recording, with mike and amplifier, began to supplant it, until by 1928, only the Columbia "cheap" labels - Harmony, Velvet-Tone and Diva - were clinging to acoustic. This record therefore is one of the VERY last acoustics to be commercially made and sold*. It feels utterly anachronistic - and delightful! - to hear such hip, ultra-modern, "Up-To-Date" dance music presented this way!
This original 1930 Diva 3123-G is in clean E- condition.
*The VERY VERY last acoustic record is "There's a Wah-Wah Gal in Agua Caliente," also by The Golden Gate Orchestra, also on Harmony, made May 23, 1930.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
