BLACKPOOL PUNK BAND – You’re So Dumb *ORIG Chiswick 45* S 11 (UK, Stereo, 1977)
Here’s their cracking debut single, recorded when they were just a fiery punk band – a totally different outfit to what they later became. As far as I’m aware, this is the 1st press of this 45. Laminated sleeve (first 1,000 only?), S11 catalogue number on both sleeve and label, S-11-A-1/S-11-B-1 matrix with b-side etching ‘do not adjust your stylus’.
The laminated sleeve is in absolutely super shape and you’ll be looking long and hard to find this rare sleeve any better than this. It grades a brilliant M- (Mint Minus). One miniscule crease to the front (near invisible). Very small dot stain to the opening edge. And that’s about it for signs of age. NO writing, rips, bends, stickers. Great corners and edges. Wow!
The solid centre labels show no writing, stickers or residue and I can’t make out any spindle trails around the centre hole. The B-side ‘Chiswick’ logo has some bubbling (can be felt when touched)but is still intact with no rips but some slight speckled paper loss.
The vinyl is quite a heavy, solid press and is also in terrific shape. There are a couple of small, insignificant marks to either side but none of these affect the play. Visually grades a TRUE EX (Excellent) – that means near to full shine. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays just perfect. So expect no snap, crackle or pop, no ticks, clicks or hiss and no distortion or loss of clarity. Great listen!
