Yamaha CS 40 M  

 analog  Synthesizer - Bass Monster, selten zu bekommen. Hat vor einem Jahr neue Speicherbatterie bekommen.
Mega fette sounds, Effekte, speicherbar, Modulationen ohne Ende. Alles funktioniert soweit, vielleicht kratzt mal ein Regler minimal beim ersten Drehen aber nichts ernstes. Das Gerät ist schliesslich ein Vintage Klassiker !

Versandkosten sind 20 Eur da der Synth gross ist und ja auch vernünftig eingepackt werden soll.

->  i don't know why some talk bout the cs40m to have no bass.... or less than the cs 30
THIS IS DEAD WRONG.  it has so much bass you have to care of your speakers.

->  also about being "not as complex as a cs 30".  believe me, the cs 40 is complex enough for 80% of all synth users i know.
the other 20% can program a real ppg or have huge buchla modulars at home. for them the cs 40 m might not be complex.
but for me... and you ....

->  now for the "weak" filter:  yes it is not a 24db screaming krass filter...
but it is one of the best sounding i ever heard. in fact, i like it MORE than the cs 50 to 80 filters, because it
is more detroit style. it is one of the most sexy darkish creamy deep filters aever made....
and while i write this i am not sure if i really want to sell it... damn ....

 Now i have had my CS-40M for a while im posting this comparison to do the instroment justice. I really hate it when people compare this synth to the CS-30, its an unfair comparison as they are NOTHING alike. The smaller 'black' CS monosynths have a very different sound to the more classy 'wooden' ones. The 'black' CS monosynths are a lot thinner sounding and IMO sound more modern. The 'wooden' CS monosynths on the other hand are quiet fat sounding and are a bit brighter in tone. Stacked up against the CS-30 the CS-40M has its pluses and its minuses. Its a lot fatter than the CS-30, twice as fat to be exact, and this is to do with the extra VCO's. Remember - in unison mode the CS-40M has 4 VCO's per voice! The CS-40M also has 2 shine wave sub-oscillators bypassing the VCF. This means that when you are getting those classic CS 'buzzy' sounds in HP and BP modes, you can still have enormous power behind those 'thin' sounds. This is one of the things that puts the CS-40M way above the CS-30. The Ring-Mod on the CS-40M is the same one as on the 50/60/80 and is probebly the best ever made. It can be sent to the EG-VCO for the classic CS-80 sound which is yet to be surpassed. You also can control the LFO rate from this EG and sweep the pitch of those big VCO's. PW can be sent there too. IT HAS MEMORY!! This is the thing that the CS-30 really need. Its great to have memory because like the CS-30, the CS-40M is VERY complex and not at all easy to use. On the downside, the CS-40M does not have the 8-step sequencer. It also only has 2 Envelopes (3 including the EG-VCO) compaired to the CS-30's 3. Its also a lot bigger and heavier but the control pannel is very layed out. So how do you choose between the CS-30 and CS-40M? here is how:

Go for the CS-30 if: # You like the sound of the 5/10/15. # You love to use simple analogue sequencers. # You make dance music

Go for the CS-40M if: # You like 'fat' sounding synths. # If you like the 50/60/80 but don't have room for them. # If you like Vangelis. # If you like working with analogue sequencers.

I hope this comparison helped. This should give you an idea what the CS-40M is all about.

This is one of the finest synthesizers out there. It is full of features and has a massive sound. There are 2 classic CS VCO's on the front pannel with independant controls but 4 are available in unison. The overall sound is so rich and can be harsh or soft. I find that the CS-40M is one of the best synths for leads. The pitch and mod wheels add pleanty expression to your playing. The basses are unbelivable. Be careful not to blow your speakers. The ring mod is awsome. Overall, i think the CS-40M is very hard to beat. It offers so much power and has loads of modulation routings for those wierd sounds. Plus....it has memory!
