The Yardbirds - Roger The Engineer - Vinyl LP - 1966 - Rare First Issue - Mono
Record Collector Rating: Vinyl = Good, Cover = Good
This is a 1966 1st UK mono vinyl pressing on the black & blue Columbia label SX6157 with the very first known matrix numbers XAX 3126-1 and XAX 3127-1, Spindle embossing letters = KT, and Mother Stamper = GT.
I am not a dealer and this is an original purchase I made on first release (many years ago) from a record shop.
I have played the record through and although the vinyl has many light scuff marks and a few scratches, there are no jumps but as is normal with a record this age, there is a fair amount of background crackle most noticeable between tracks and on very quiet passages, and the odd clicks in places due to the scratches.
The front cover is in pretty good condition for its age, but there are a few crease marks and some edge wear most noticeable near to the left spine. The rear of the covers suffers from some yellowing as expected for this age, and there is a section of surface damage to the top right where a name has been rubbed out (see last photo).
From looking at other advertised copies, the inner sleeve looks to be original but there is a split at the bottom edge where the vinyl has pushed through.
All my records on sale are from my personal collection that I originally purchased from new at record shops. I am not a dealer and do the best I can to accurately list items and tend to err on the cautious side with any ratings. I post all records in purpose-made reinforced record packaging.
I have used the record collectors grading system in rating the condition of this record classified as follows:
Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc...
Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection file.
