Description
Prestige International Documentary Series 25010, "Yazoo Delta Blues & Spirituals" from 1962. This is the original maroon-label DG pressing. Vinyl plays at NM on Side A with little background sound; there is slight static on Side B. Jacket is in excellent condition with practically no seamwear or corner wear; there is a corner bump at lower right; ; there are no ringwear or bends; jacket back has no writing and is basically clean with perhaps a bit of age toning. Artists on blues include Fred McDowell ("61 Highway Blues", "Fred McDowell's Blues", "Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning", "Soon One Morning"), Ed & Lonnie Young ("Jim and John", Miles Pratcher ("I'm Gonna Live Anyhow Till I Die"), Mattie Gardner ("Little Sally Walker"), Sid Hemphill ("Old Devil's Dream", John Dudley ("Po. Boy Blues"), Ed Lewis ("Stewball"), Anderson Burton & Congregation ("God's Unchanging Hand"), Viola James & Congregation, "Tryin' to Make Heaven My Home"), Leroy Gary ("Mama Lucy"), Ervin Webb ("I'm Goin' Home"), Henry Ratcliff ("Louisiana"), and Leroy Miller ("Berta, Berta"). Only Fred McDowell is well known, as these are field recordings from Alan Lomax's well-known tour of the South ca. 1960. Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $10.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $16.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Additional single LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $3.00 overseas. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $14.50 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
