CATALOGUE:ATLANTIC K50012 MATRIX: K50012 A3 / B1 CLOSE TO THE EDGE RELEASED IN 1972 HAS A FEW DIFFERENT MATRIX NUMBERS THAT MAKE UP THE FIRST BATCH OF VINYLS RELEASED IN 1972
THERE IS THE VERY RARE A1/B1 MATRIX WHICH IS THE EARLIEST OF ALL THE PRESSES.
THIS ALSO HAS A SLEEVE THAT IS NOT ONLY TEXTURED ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT ON THE INSIDE OF THE GATEFOLD AS WELL.
AFTER THIS PRESS THERE WERE A MIXTURE OF MATRIX NUMBERS ISSUED A1/A2/A3/B1/B2/B3, AND THESE CAN BE FOUND IN ANY ONE OF THE COMBINATIONS
THERE IS HOWEVER NOTHING AFTER A '3 ' DIGIT ONE OF THE OTHER DIFFERENCES IS THAT THE SLEEVE IS TEXTURED ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE NOT THE INSIDE
ALL OF THESE EARLY ISSUES HAVE ONE KEY FACTOR ON THE LABEL, AND THAT IS THE ABSENCE OF THE WARNER LOGO AT 3 O'CLOCK THE LATER ISSUES HAD
Thank you for looking, we have four very rare YES records, all early or first pressings that came from the same collection. They all look unplayed. The collection came from someone who worked in a UK recording studio. There are many acetates and oddball records that look unplayed.
This is from the personal collection of Ken Laws. He was a producer for Spark Records among others and played drums with Strawbs spin off Hudson Ford who were in Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera before that. He was in the middle of the UK music scene for decades. Pretty much every record from this collection of UK imports look unplayed. He moved to Atlanta GA at some point and we acquired his collection. We have over 20 cool psych and rare Brit pop Acetates from this collection. There are a few spindle marks, the vinyl looks unplayed. The original cover has a couple of chips but is still VG+. The insert is unmarked and looks great as you can see in the photos
