Description
I am downsizing my classic rock collection and will be selling a number of my LP's over the couple of weeks. Up for auction is a rare original white label, Presswell plant, white label promotional pressing of the Atlantic Records Yes, "Fragile" LP produced in 1972. This was a giant album for Yes, includes" Roundabout", "South Side of the Sky", "Long Distance Runaround", and "Heart of the Sunrise". This record was mastered by the great George Piros and George Peckham (their initials are in the dead wax, and is a very desirable record for the serious Yes collector . My main goal was to collect Near Mint versions of original vinyl for my rock collection, I wanted the same for the outer and inner sleeves as well, but the main priority was to to get the best quality vinyl as possible for the best audio quality, and also to get the best versions. As far as condition goes, the outer sleeve is in Good condition, it has one major flaw and that is a 1" abrasion to the top of the spine, which results in some loss of the cardboard, other than just some minor bumping at the other corners of the cover. It has most of the original color and still has excellent construction, this is not a wrecked cover, please see the pictures. I am being very tough on my grading, the front and rear of the cover is very nice. The original paper inner sleeve is in NM condition. The original picture book is also included in NM condition. The vinyl itself is in beautiful excellent to near mint condition, side 2 I would rate as NM, side 1 I would rate as Excellent, there are some very light surface marks on two small areas, just on the first song, "Rounabout", these are not scratches or punctures of the surface, the surface marks are not feelable to a fingernail, they are just lightly visible. It is not easy to find this record with this quality to the vinyl. The second side plays with near mint quality, the first side has some very quiet tics the start at the beginning of "Roundabout" for about 15 seconds, then drop out and come back between 30 and 45 seconds and then disappear, after that the sound quality is NM. I want to emphasize that these tics are very low in volume compared to the music. This is a true first pressing as well, the dead wax showing ST-A-712367-A-AT/GP PR PORKY on side 1, and ST-A-712368-A-AT/GP PR on side 2 as called out by Discogs for the Presswell plant, white label promo, true first pressing. I will only sell to the continental United States, no international shipping. I will send via US Postal Service Media Mail. No reserve, just a very reasonable starting bid. This record would normally go for between $150 to $200 for a Near Mint Copy.
