Description
Yes Fragile Lp - 1st Aust pressing - Exc cond. Sent with Australia Post Standard Service.
I think it likely that I have had this record in my collection since it was first released, but can't quite remember that far back. I was a big Yes fan from the time of the release of their previous album. I saw their concert at Festival Hall in Melbourne just after their next album - Close to the Edge. I remember great music and Jon Anderson emerging out of a cloud of dry ice. Very novel for the times.
I believe this to be a 1st Australian pressing of the LP - Catalogue No. SD-7211 - See discogs.com
I have always kept my records in plastic covers and played them carefully on good quality equipment with a light stylus and modest tracking force. So, I would rate the vinyl as VG+ on the Goldmine rating scale. I have listened carefully through headphones, and was able to detect 2 small clicks on one track that would pass without notice in a casual listen. Now, my hearing isn't what it was 50 years ago, but I'm quite confident that there is very insignificant close to undetectable listening defects. This record should suit all but the most fastidious perfectionists - especially given its almost 50 year age. Under a bright light some surface scratches are visible, and there are a few small spindle marks.
I think it would be fair to also grade the gatefold cover and insert booklet as VG+. Aside from some minor defects, (very slight rear cover ring wear) there is a noticeable age affect on the inside of the cover that contains the lyrics and band information. It's a bit browned off around the edges.Given how the record has been looked after, perhaps the browning is close to impossible to avoid. Don't know, still, something to be aware of.
5 star Allmusic.com album.
I package records in a double layer of stiff cardboard, and place the vinyl outside of the cover to minimise the chance of compression damage.
