Description
An original very 1st press of Yessongs on the UK Atlantic label from 1973. Matrix A1/B1/C1/D1/E1/F1. Please note the labels are perfectly consistent with 1st press - they do not have any perimeter text in the northern hemisphere. The very 1st pressings came housed in this book-cover and then production fairly swiftly moved on to a concertina design. The Book design is much nicer in my opinion - aesthetically. We also have the original photo booklet, but only one of the original three 'Yes' motif inner sleeves.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In fantastic condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks per slab of vinyl - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with perfect. Excellent audio purity from these early copies. Interference is both very minor and infrequent. We couldn't detect much more than a couple of very brief moments of light static across the entirety of six sides. Now, that's a very decent average by any standard!
Cover (Vg+) I can see why folk hanker after the 1st issue book design - quite apart from it being the 'FIRST'...it is by far and away a better design. This example seems to have survived the years in very nice condition. Clean front with only some minor handling... Ditto the rear. All the internal pages are in lovely condition and there's no signs at all that the they're coming out or any movement at all. There's edge wear, but nothing that significant. All the text on the spine is intact and I'd say that this example is well above average. Overall the cover still retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits. 1 X Yes. 2 X Generic white from '73.
Booklet (Vg+) Spine has curled at the edge from being tucked into the area behind the spine of the cover. Otherwise aok with all pages still attached to the staples.
