Yes Yessongs UK 3LP Original 1st Pressing 1973 Robor Book Opening Sleeve

Yes ~ Yessongs Triple Live LP from 1973. UK Atlantic K60045 with A1 ; B1 ; C1 ;D1 ;E1; F1 matrix endings which correspond with sides 1 – 6.

This is an original first pressing with all the characteristics of a genuine first pressing as noted in the 2014 Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide.  The LP has the wide spine book opening sleeve rather than the tri-fold out version that you often see.  The sleeve is manufactured by Robor and the letter W is absent from the labels.  The inner sleeve bear the custom Yes logo, and finally it has all matrix numbers ending in 1 as noted above.  The LP also comes with the original colour photo booklet featuring live shots of the band in action.

This LP is often seen these days for sale in extremely worn condition, with typically heavy wear to the front sleeve.  Overall this particular example is a nice copy of this triple LP set which I grade at VG+ overall, and whilst there are some condition points to note ,  then in total it is a decent copy.

Detailed condition ( I grade conservatively)

Outer Sleeve - VG

The wide spine book opening sleeve is manufactured by Robor indicating a first pressing.  The front cover is generally clean with only minor wear.  The spine has some minor rubbing in a couple of isolated areas and the bottom edge is worn moderately along most of the length of the edge although it is not split or excessively frayed.  The reverse of the sleeve is also generally in nice condition.  A previous owner has added their name in the top right in black ink although this does not detract too much from the condition of the sleeve overall.

Inner Sleeves : VG+

All 3 inner sleeves which house the records have the custom Roger Dean Yes logo.  A previous owner has then added the Volume number to the sleeve in order to distinguish which record is contained inside by adding the text “Vol 1”  ; “Vol 2” etc.  Finally, the reverse of each sleeve has had some text blocked out, possibly a name of a previous owner.

Records. Overall grade VG+ although each record grades slightly differently and individually I grade as follows.  All records play grade at EX.

Record 1 ~ Sides 1 and 2.  Visual Grade EX . Some faint hairline marks but nothing too serious and in nice condition

Record 2 ~ Sides 3 and 4.  Visual grade VG+.  Again mainly faint hairline marks, one or two more noticeable marks but these are barely heard when the LP is played back, although they are noticeable visually they are still largely superficial.

Record 3 ~ Sides 5 and 6.  Visual grade VG, side 6 has a longer mark across the last 2 tracks and visually looks more prominent but again on playback it is hardly noticeable and is not a deep mark, it really is a case of looking much worse than it is!  Nevertheless I can only grade this record VG accordingly.

Photobook ~ VG.

This is still fully intact with no rips, stains, tears or writing but has been clearly been thumbed through quite a bit, and has general minor creasing to the front cover and other pages.

Don’t miss out on the chance to own a complete and genuine first pressing.  Whilst the LP has a few condition points then overall I would note this is in above average condition for this LP and would be a nice addition to your collection.

I have a couple of other early UK issue Yes LP’s up for sale at the moment, please see my other auctions.
