This is a vintage Victor V-40072 shellac 78 RPM single by Jimmie Rodgers, released in June 1929.


Record Details:


Artist: Jimmie Rodgers, singing and yodeling with guitar.


Label: Victor (Victor Talking Machine Division, Radio-Victor Corporation of America).


Catalog Number: V-40072-B (side shown); the A-side is "My Little Lady".

Recording Date: Both sides were recorded on June 12, 1928, in Camden, New Jersey.


Release Year: Originally issued in June 1929. It was later reissued on Victor's budget Bluebird label in 1935.


Historical Context:


Jimmie Rodgers, known as the "Father of Country Music" and "The Singing Brakeman," was a pioneer of the genre. This record features one of his many popular songs, co-written with McWilliams. The "Orthophonic Recording" label indicates it was made using Victor's advanced acoustic recording process, which provided a fuller, more natural sound than previous methods.
