Younghearts – ‘A Little Togetherness’ / ‘Beginning of the End’ – Canterbury 506 (US)
No introduction necessary. Simply one of the finest Northern dancers of all time. The vinyl plays wonderfully, but the record has a slight warp and the labels are water-damaged, which may detract a little.
Is this an original or a later issue? I have no idea. Checking against the various counterfeits listed in John Manship’s invaluable price guide, I can find no exact match. It’s a vinyl record, the A-side has the matrix number 67-C-506A (but not the letters RE). A quarter turn to the left are two tiny Greek letters, ? ?, followed by LR. The flip has the matrix number 67-C 506-B followed by the same Greek letters, though this time they are above each other, and then the initials JC very crudely (and deeply) etched into the run-out grooves. The disc has every feel of an original copy, and rather sounds too good to be a boot, but I must confess I cannot guarantee it. If it’s a boot, it’s an old one. Suggestions from the learned eBay community greatly appreciated.
Condition: VG++ close to Excellent (please listen to the clips). The disc is a bit warped (kind of slow warp, if you know what I mean) but this is of no consequence on my record player (and I’m not using a heavy pick-up). Labels have water damage, particularly on the flip (please see scans).
