Description
This is a never before played copy of legendary U.S. hardcore band Youth Of Today's first e.p. 'Can't Close My Eyes', released on Positive Force Records, a small punk rock/hardcore record label I ran back in the 1980's.
The cover is xeroxed, all black & white, the vinyl is BLACK and the label is BLUE. It's in a plastic sleeve and comes with the original lyric sheet that YOT provided way back when.
This copy has been sitting in a box between other records for years so the sleeve itself is a bit worn-looking and dog-eared but the record has never been played.
There have been many claims throughout the punk/hardcore record collector community but here's the REAL deal....
The first pressing I did of the record, came out of my own pocket and was REALLY limited, something like 300 copies because I couldn't afford to press any more at the time. The label on those were black. At the time, I believe my friend/co-conspirator Bessie paid to get the next pressing's cover printed at an actual print shop but we had orders to get out via mail so I went and printed a bunch of them out at a local Kinko's. they looked pretty bad but i figured, 'hey, it's punk rock!'.
I've read and heard so many inaccurate figures on pressing over the years and I pretty much ignored them because, I'm not caught up in the record collecting BS and I didn't really care all that much. But I can tell you this: the all-black and white covers with the blue label signifies the SECOND PRESSING of this classic record. If anybody else (band members included) tell you any differently, they're full of it.
For whatever reason, I've managed to hold on to a handful of these records and recently decided to get rid of what vinyl I still own. I have everything on discs and computers and I'm at a point in my life where collecting and hoarding seems extremely stupid and pointless.
I still love YOT and the music but I'm ok with letting things go now.
