Description

Yusef Lateef        Jazz And The Sounds Of Nature     mono   Savoy 12120 Red label deep groove RVG X20 SAMPLE COPY  

Yusef Lateef (ts, fl etc), Wilbur Harden (flhn etc), Hugh Lawson (p etc), Ernie Farrow (b etc), Oliver Jackson (d etc) Recorded 1957 

Red label (not the later maroon} and deep groove with RVG, X20 and "Sample" stamp both sides. "Newark, New Jersey" address on back. 

 The record looks VG+ and plays VG to VG+. Loud parts play VG+.  Both sides have scuffing and some light hairline scratches.  Spindle marks on both labels. Side 1 has a pressing dimple at the very end that thumps 4 times.  Record plays with moderate surface noise throughout.  Music plays strongly, well above it without distortion.  No heavy or repetitive ticking.  Grooves show some play but are not spread or damaged.    

 The cover is VG+.  

    The front cover is bright and shiny with light wear.  There is serious denting and crinkling of the laminate at the top of spine and bottom of the pocket.  The back cover has heavy wear, three "Sample" stamps, writing and tape visible at bottom and top of spine.  The spine has heavy wear and tape 3 inches at the top but is readable.  The top seam is taped app 3 inches at the pocket.  The bottom seam is split and untaped app 2 inches at the at the pocket with app 5 inches of tape in the middle.  Spots of heavy wear at  the corners.   

Black lines that might be visible at bottom left and top right in pictures are due to photo cropping and not on cover.


 My highest grade is M- and I rarely grade 50s or 60s records M-. Records are graded visually using the Goldmine system. M-, VG++, VG+, VG, VG- etc. I play grade any potential problem areas.  I attempt to grade conservatively, listing all significant flaws. You will be satisfied.  No hassles.
