SOUL REVIVAL / HOLDING ON ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by ZAP POW. Original Jamaican pressing on JAYWAX label from 1971. Killer Caribbean funk and breaks grail by the cult Jamaican group. Absolutely, one of the very best of the crossover reggae funk genre. We are really happy to offer you this OG Jamaican single in really nice condition, recorded at the legendary Harry J Studio Uptown Kingston. Features the James Brown influenced rare groove of SOUL REVIVAL and the little known soulful b-side gem HOLDING ON ;) Pure West Indies funk pressure on SOUL REVIVAL with tuff congas / clipped guitars and sleazy bassline / reggae horn stabs and hard blowing jazz solos / psychedelic hammond / syncopated drum breaks with call and response vocal shouts midway. Great for DJs with loud production sound. The HOLDING ON side is also superb. Groovy sweet soul vocals with laidback, boom bap drums and jazzy rhythms. Both trax later released on the Revolutionary Zap Pow Lp on Roosevelt label. Seldom comes up for sale now. We doubt you will find a better copy anytime soon regardless of vinyl quality (to be expected from Jamaican singles of this period ;) Very rare 45!!!           

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition with a few hairlines and old pressing marks. Surface noises (but to be expected for such a pressing). Loud production sound. Some dirt marks to label. Record will be housed in a plain white card sleeve with brand new poly lined inner. Very rare 45!!!
