This is perhaps the only copy ever made and surely the only one ever offered, as it is an acetate maybe a few were cut or maybe only this one. California 1968 and Zeke is keyboard player who has one side with three killer wild garage rock tracks and the other side two free form arty piano modern avant jam/ improvs. The rock side is what matters, it has two versions of a track titled "I Don't Care" and a track called "Zig Zag". The first "I Don't Care" is a home recording from 1967 and has brutal guitar, punky vocals, a little more complex arrangement than usual garage as the middle part goes into slower spooky section before a ripping guitar break. I could imagine the Sonics doing this song. The second version of "I Don't Care" is a studio version from 1968 and although it has better sound quality and is great, I prefer the savage home recorded version. The track "Zig Zag" is a wild jam with wailing guitar and wild electric piano up front. These tracks are raw stunners that would be excellent for an ultra-unknowns compilation. The other side is uninteresting to me, as it is two tracks "Twelve Tone Blues" which is a jam with guitar, keyboard, bass and note that when the bass hits certain notes it sounds very distorted. "Piano Sonata" is him going off on an improv jazz/modern classical/avant garde style and is a long track and plays fine even the quiet bits. Cool but I'm hyping this based on the garage rock side. The homemade sleeve has two xeroxes pasted onto a copy of the Rolling Stones "Out Of Our Heads" cover. There is detailed info on the back about the tracks, players, etc. As the sleeve says "Zeke Tells It Like It Is, Baby". He also uses the name Ezekiel Thelonius Freakland in the liner notes. The acetate is very clean looking, some faint harmless scuffs but looks to have been played very little. Hard to value except it is a special way out thing from the '60s and maybe the only one that exists, sure to impress your friends as it looks and sounds so far out. No doubt Zeke really is a freak.
