Zoot Sims – Choice
John Haley "Zoot" Sims (October 29, 1925 - March 23, 1985) was an American jazz saxophonist, playing mainly tenor and soprano. Following in the footsteps of Lester Young, he developed into an innovative tenor saxophonist. Throughout his career, he played with big bands, starting with those of Kenny Baker and Bobby Sherwood after dropping out of high school after one year. He played with Benny Goodman's band in 1943 and replaced his idol Ben Webster in Sid Catlett's Quartet in 1944.

The album is on Vogue Records, LAE 12309. Matrix side one: VMGT-1848-1B (stamped). Matrix side two: VMGT-1849-1B (stamped).
Released in 1961. UK pressing. Mono.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (lovely unmarked shiny vinyl, plays like new with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (lovely unmarked shiny vinyl, plays like new with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (fully laminated, flipback): excellent (light corner wear, bit of laminate lift at spine edge, light aging/discolouring on back).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
