ZOOT SIMS – ZOOT SIMS GOES TO JAZZVILLE – DAWN DLP 1115 – M-/EX - MONO
There are two sessions on this LP. The first, recorded on August 10, 1956 features Zoot Sims on tenor, Jerry Lloyd on trumpet, John Williams on piano, Bill Anthony on bass and Gus Johnson on drums. Their selections are: YOU’RE MY GIRL; THE PURPLE CLOW; ILL WIND; THE BIG STAMPEDE; TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT and BYE YA; The second session, recorded on September 4, 1956 features the same personnel, except Nabil “Knobby” Totah replaces Bill Anthony on bass. They perform: JERRY’S JUNT and HOW NOW BLUES. This is a first pressing and is a MONO recording.
I’ve graded both the vinyl as M- and the record jacket as EX for the following reasons. There is no sign of any marks on the vinyl of either side of the LP. There is little to no wear in or around the spindle hole, except for a couple of marks on the label. The vinyl retains it’s original luster. The record jacket is in near mint condition with little to no sign of wear, except on the top of the spine. There is a small taped seam on the top right.
