ZOOT AT RONNIE SCOTT'S
- FEATURING ZOOT SIMS, RONNIE SCOTT/JIMMY DEUCHAR QUINTET
AND THE HAROLD MCNAIR QUARTET

F ontana MONO TFL 5176 , from 1962 , recorded live 13 -15 /11 /61.
The rarer first MONO issue and original 60s issue.
This LP is very important because it showcases some of the best UK jazz talent of the time , namely Stan Tracey , Jimmy Deuchar , Ronnie Scott , Kenny Napper and the great Harold Mcnair Quartet ( Mcnair alto and flute , Terry Shannon , Jeff Cline , Phil Seamen ) who were Scott's house band at the time.
Sleeve condition is VG : has general wear and natural age discoloration all over, nothing major, no tears, no seam splits or writing on sleeve or label, just a few light marks and a corner crease.
Vinyl: First the good news, vinly has nearly full gloss, has obviously been played a fair few times, (spindle marks) but has been cared for, VG+ (maybe closer to EX) but... and there is a BUT, there is some kind of kink, it isn't obvious to the eye and I presume it may be some kind of heat damage so on my deck with a light tone arm it does not stay in the groove for the start and most of the first track on each side, it may well play for you but I do doubt it and it has to be sold as if it won't. You may well have some magic tricks to fix this, but this is very tricky operation and close to impossible to do from what I know. But you do get the rest of the LP and that plays just lovely, the playing tracks include "The Haunted Jazz Club" "Desparation" "Gone With the Wind" " Harry Flicks" and "Suddenly Last Tuesday"
But a great LP to have on the racks, very rare this and this grading will, I am sure make it a much much cheaper purchase than any high guide prices, maybe you were just after a few of the tracks that play very well..... Your choice - bid accordingly.
